She practically grew up before TV and movie audiences' eyes. To date, Maricel has appeared in 54 movies and has earned the 1996 Famas Best Actress Award for Dahas, first runner-up of the Best Drama Actress in the 1996 Asian Television Awards, Best Actress in the 1995 Star Awards and People's Choice Awards for the movie Separada, 1993 People's Choice Best Actress for Ikaw Pa Lang Ang Minahal and 1989 Star Awards' TV Best Actress for the Maricel Drama Special.

She has demonstrated her knack for comedy early in her TV career as Jaclyn Pusit in Kaluskos Musmos, Shirley in John en Marsha and Jack in Let's Go Crazy with Jack `n Joey. Having graced our primetime viewing for the past 10 years through her show The Maricel Drama Special, she has rightfully earned the title "TV's Drama Anthology Queen.

She now stars in a TV sitcom, Kaya Ni Mister, Kaya Ni Misis, opposite Cesar Montano. The sitcom is a spin-off of the very successful movie Kung Kaya Mo Kaya Ko Rin.
